The WP Job Manager Application Deadline Add-on is a premium extension for the WP Job Manager plugin that provides employers with the functionality to set a closing date for job applications.
This is a critical feature for managing the hiring timeline and ensures job seekers are aware of the application window.
The add-on focuses on integrating the deadline seamlessly into the job submission process and the frontend display.
Deadline Field: It adds a dedicated "Application Closing Date" field to the frontend job submission form, allowing employers to easily specify the last day they will accept applications using a date picker.
Automatic Expiry: You can configure a setting (via Job Listings > Settings) to automatically make the job listing expire and close once the application deadline passes. This ensures no new applications are accepted after the cutoff.
Note: The system checks for expired jobs daily at midnight using WordPress cron.
Frontend Display: The closing date is prominently displayed on the individual job listing page. The display styling changes color/icon to provide visual cues to the applicant:
It may change color when the deadline is imminent (e.g., within 2 days).
It will turn a different color (often red) when the job is expired.
Sorting Options: The add-on enables a new sorting parameter for the [jobs] shortcode. You can display jobs sorted by their deadline:
$$\text{[jobs orderby="deadline" order="ASC" or "DESC"]}$$
In short, it allows your job board to operate with firm application timelines, which is a standard expectation for professional job portals.
You can watch a general tutorial on setting up and managing a job board with this video: WP Job Manager Tutorial. This video is relevant as it covers the foundational WP Job Manager plugin for which the Application Deadline is a key add-on.
